Explorers Learning Objectives:
- Reflect and inquire: Introduce topics and discuss as a group. Teachers and students collaborate to explore inquiries based on current knowledge.
- Plan and predict: Teachers plan activities related to learning goals, current interests and themed topics. Children work together to predict outcomes.
- Act and observe: Teachers model and children participate in planned activities in small groups. Children have the freedom to complete tasks in a way that connects to their individual development, understanding and interests.
- Report and reflect: Children discuss what they observe, and new ideas/questions emerge. Information is reported in a variety of ways.
- Science experiments: Children participate in every step of science activities from adding ingredients, to predicting outcomes!
- Art: Children are provided a variety of materials and options to create process art related to themes and current interests.
- Math: Children are provided a variety of hands-on math-based activities including but not limited to measuring, pattern recognition, building, etc.
- Language and literature: Children work on reading comprehension, language building skills, communication, understanding context, storytelling and reading skills.
- We have minimal interactions with technology – but we may use supervised digital media (audiobooks, short videos, recording devices) to supplement learning activities.
